Be the Book Fair Day-of VolunteerWe have our fall Book Fair scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd.
We need volunteers to help our Book Fair Co-Chairs and PTA Board run our Book Fair. During school, volunteers will help kids pick books that fit their budget., After school, volunteers will help families purchase books their students put on hold and later in the day help us box up the book fair materials to return to Scholastic. Volunteer in the Classroom (this opportunity is always available!)
If you want to volunteer in the classroom, just reach out to your child's teacher to see what you can do. Parents and caregivers participate in classrooms in a variety of ways: being a Mystery Readers, leading arts and crafts projects, chaperoning field trips, providing tutoring, running after school clubs, being recess coaches, lunch attendants or classroom aides.
All you have to do is fill out a CORI form (a background check required of all in-school volunteers and field trip chaperones) and drop it off with Ms. Diaz at the front desk. She'll make a copy of your driver's license or other form of identification, and she'll get the check completed. She has blank CORI forms at her desk as well.
We encourage you to complete the CORI early so that you don't miss out on an event waiting for a check. (they usually take 1-2 days, though have been known to have periods of delays)
Another way to be involved if you can't make it to WSNS during the school day is to become a Room Parent. Room Parents will send out emails to connect parents with upcoming events on a limited basis to coordinate things like Teacher Appreciation and the Fun Run events. Email Lee-Anne King at [email protected] to let her know you are interested.
